FIFA World Cup 2014 Recap

We sit just under 18 months away from the kick-off of the next World Cup.

Let this be a reminder, that all the drama, passion and love that this game elicits will soon be here again.

Holiday Football

It was a humid Middle-Eastern evening as I sat on the porch looking down at my socks. I was wearing mid-shin socks over compression socks to reduce muscle vibration. Only problem was that my toes didn’t have as much grip as I want but I wasn’t refereeing so eh. Also, the color contrast looks pretty cool too. I was wearing compression shorts as well under my Adidas refereeing shorts. The only thing left to do with old edition uniforms are to use them for training.

Week 37

The first day of the week was a couple of Mens recreational games with my instructor who I took my referees course with. It had been a while since I had seen him so it was definitely nice. That’s a lie. I was super excited about it. It was only the second time in four years I had seen him.

I was brought up and taught both in my youth and early years of refereeing with a simple phrase/saying.

The FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 has, unfortunately, concluded today.

After a month long fiesta with businesses losing billions of dollars in lost productivity, life must return to what was known as ‘normal’ after having witnessed more than 6000 minutes of football.

The post-show depression disorder will sweep across the planet as most leagues are in the off-season now. How I will survive?

FIFA World Cup 2014 Referees List Final Four

With the final four matches of the tournament remaining, the FIFA Referees’ Committee had it’s decisive moment and sat down to decide which officiating crews would remain in Brazil.

Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Netherlands’ respective national football teams are the sole survivors of the competition right now but the same cannot be said of their referee representatives other than Brazil’s Sandro Ricci.

It would be a lie to say nobody (that is outside a cave) has heard of football, especially now. The World Cup fever and pre-tournament build-up is ON.

The beautiful game in the host nation, Brazil. There couldn’t be a place more passionate about football than the Seleção’s own nation.
