Week 3 & 4

I think this past week has to be the busiest week of all time for refereeing off the field/court. Considering that I hardly officiated, it makes it all the more odd that I was this intensely busy.

I expect this to perhaps be one of the longest posts I have ever written; hence the long delay in getting it up.

Week 1 & 2

Plenty of work on referee education and powerpoints in Week 52 wrap-up. Having finished a few of these, I spent some time getting feedback from other referees to mould and be ready for the presentation. I got some good feedback and hope to prepare some good quality sessions.

Having finished blog week, Continue reading

Week 48 & 49

After a long break from blogging anything going on with me, I managed to find sometime to blog again.

Titling these posts has really emphasised how the weeks are melting away in the year leaving barely three left.

I have a buffer of blog posts on education material that I roll out when I don’t have time to blog or every now and then. The last one was Continue reading

Week 41 & 42

So it’s been a busy two weeks and there is absolutely no way I would be able to recall everything. There’s been a lot refereeing-related. In fact it’s always on my mind but it was a good time to get back into study mode and take a break from perpetually thinking about it. Goes the other way too!

Futsal Education Session

Week 17 & 18

So the past two weeks have been very hectic both in and off refereeing. Busy enough that I haven’t been able to post for a while on what I’ve actually been doing (last post doesn’t really count). Another year has passed and I’m a year older and boy has the last year been quite eventful. The better word is educational because it’s been a learning experience. Hopefully the next year will prove to be the same result.

My first few games of the 2013 Outdoor season were an interesting experience. The morning of the day was quite cool but I had no clue what was in store for me after I had dressed into my kit in the dressing room and walked out with a colleague. A blast of hail and chilly wind during the games had us shivering and frozen. My glasses kept my eyes protected from the onslaught as the ice-pellets bounced off them. I really wondered Continue reading

Week 13 Education Sessions

It’s not every day you meet a FIFA official and a past education session this week had just that! A very entertaining individual, JF, briefed us on his journey through the ladder and a major recent FIFA tournament as well as being a prospective in World Cup 2014 Brazil.

A very enlightening and humorous presentation it was to be capped off by the ultimate FIFA Offside test. 25 videos in sequence of split-second offside decisions. FIFA uses this test from a pool of 200 videos to test its officials expecting a minimum passing grade of 19/25. Continue reading
